Welcome to Generations Estate Planning
We at Generations Estate Planning offer a number of services that aim to protect you and your family and help you plan for the future.
We assist clients all over England and Wales and if you are in need of a personalised, professional service then we would love to hear from you.
We can ensure your wishes are appropriately recorded by drafting a Will, and if needed, also by setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney so that decisions about your finances or health can be taken by those that you choose. We can also assist with Trusts to protect your interests and those of people you wish to leave assets to.
Generations is committed to offering expert advice to our clients and their families; the Generations team have a wealth of experience and expertise in Financial Services that they bring across to the Estate Planning industry so you can be sure you are in safe hands.
The directors are all advisers at J Finance and Generations was set up in response to many clients looking for assistance with their estate planning. Therefore, should you require it, our team are also able to help you with financial advice on a wide range of matters.
Our legal team, who we instruct to complete client documents such as Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney applications, are members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives which ensures their work is of a high standard and they are up to date with changes to laws or legal processes.
Unlike a solicitor, we do not charge hourly for our work, nor do we have extortionate fees for amending your documents in future, for example if you need to alter your Will to reflect a change in circumstances or wishes. We charge per piece of work undertaken for a client and should you decide you need assistance with several areas that we work in, for example a new Will and creation of a Lasting Power of Attorney, we are able to offer discounted fees. Please contact us to discuss our fees. All prices are agreed and a Client Agreement signed before commencement of work so you are fully in control of the process and there are no hidden costs later down the line.
We have two options for you if you are looking to write your will.
If you have a reasonably straight forward situation then you may find our online will writing option is suitable. This is available to those who wish to be guided through the creation of their will via sophisticated online software, which will ask questions based on your individual circumstances, and this is then turned into your will by a qualified legal executive.
The cost for this service is as follows: Single Person £100.00 or Couple £140.00 when the code “Generations” is input.
You may also wish to take advantage of the following optional extras: Storage of your document £10.00 per annum & Future update service £10.00 per annum. We strongly recommend these options are taken out as your document will be safely stored and will guard against any issues with a lost or damaged will and you will be able to update your will as your situation changes in future.
To get started and create your will online, click the following link and to obtain the prices above, the code “Generations” must be entered when you are asked if you have a code to input at the start of the process. I’m ready to start making my will !
Alternatively, if you have a more complex situation which could, for example, involve having children from a previous relationship, multiple properties, different categories of assets etc or maybe you require trusts set up or additional clauses inserted, then the online solution above is unlikely to cater for your needs and we would recommend an appointment with one of our will writers to enable them to understand your circumstances, and record your wishes to allow us to produce a bespoke will.
This will be more expensive than the online route but is still typically much lower than a solicitor would charge! Prices are quoted on a case by case basis and do not attract VAT.
Power of Attorney
When preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney documents on your behalf, we gather all the information needed for our legal team to prepare the Lasting Power of Attorney forms for you and register them for use with the Office of the Public Guardian. There are two types of Power of Attorney – a health and welfare LPA and a property and financial affairs LPA. They each have different uses, contact us to discuss your needs and allow us to quote for the work involved in setting this up on your behalf.
